As gear gets lighter, webbings get narrower. To keep them from slipping, carabiners have to be slimmer, too. The disadvantage is that they don't open wide enough to easily attach paraglider risers. The FORAS changes all that. The 111 gram lightweight steel carabiner, which accepts webbing up to 25 mm wide, opens sideways! Its real breaking strength is much higher than the nominal 28 kN.
The use of steel allows the karabiner to withstand higher cyclic loads than its aluminum counterpart, making it ideal for tandem and acro paragliding. An automatic Twist-Lock gate ensures the best possible handling, and a batch number with date of manufacture makes it easy to check the service life. Rounded edges ensure that the FORAS is gentle on your riser fabric, and the specially developed Antitwist (20071) prevents the karabiner from twisting and the straps from slipping during use. Every single piece is machine tested before it leaves the EDELRID factory.
